Start 'em Sit 'em Wide Receivers - Week 5

Start of the Week - Robby Anderson, WR - New York Jets

During Anderson's career he has been a boom or bust guy, very rarely having stretches of consistent target volume. This year has been no exception, except Anderson has busted twice and has not even touched boom territory. Things should change this week, outside of Darnold not playing, everything is lined up for a big game from Anderson. The Eagles have been abysmal against the pass with almost all of their top defensive backs out and Sidney Jones continuing to recover from his injury. If you have been stashing Anderson now is the time to throw him in your lineup during his best matchup of the season.

Larry Fitzgerald, WR - Arizona Cardinals

Larry has cooled off after yet another strong start to the season as Kyler Murray has reduced the amount of shots he takes downfield. Expect that to change this week as they go up against a questionable Cincinnati secondary. Fitzgerald has seen 36 targets through 4 games and will clearly be Murray's go to WR with Christian Kirk sidelined this week. Start Larry as a solid flex in what could be a potentially high scoring game if these poor defenses continue their current trend of play. Damiere Byrd is also worth a look in deep leagues as a flex flier this week.

Patriots Wide Receivers

Of the Edelman, Gordon and Phillip Dorsett trio Dorsett has the highest ceiling for this week's matchup vs the Washington Redskins. Dorsett was targeted 9 times, second only to James White, last week against the Bills stout defense. With his elite speed and increased target volume the former first round pick should expose Washington's defense that ranks 31st against the pass thus far this season. Edelman should be fully recovered from his minor injury and return to form this week as well. Start your Patriots wide receivers with confidence this week.

Other Starts: D. Johnson - Steelers, J. Crowder - Jets, M. Sanu - Falcons, D. Moore - Panthers

Sit of the Week - Tyrell Williams, WR - Oakland Raiders

Through 4 weeks Williams is the only receiver to score in every game. I fully expect that to change this week as he goes up against the tough Bears D who have allowed only 10.4 yards per catch to opponents thus far. Derek Carr is almost as bad as Chicago is good so far this season, only throwing two touchdowns to players not named Williams. Both these teams play at a very slow pace, further hampering any chance Williams had of continuing his scoring streak, sit him if you have the depth this week.

Dede Westbrook and DJ Chark, WR - Jacksonville Jaguars

Although Gardner Minshew has gotten off to a phenomenal start in the first month of the season, earning Rookie of the Month honors, he has yet to exceed 275 yards or 2 touchdowns in a single game. There simply isn't enough production in the Jacksonville offense to feed the many talented players in a crowded wide receiver room. While Chark has stood out as the best option in the early portion of the season, he is likely to be shadowed by stand out Carolina corner James Bradeberry for much of the game, severely limiting his upside. While the Jags have been a nice success story so far, it is best to avoid them this week against a surprisingly strong Carolina defense.

Sterling Shepard, WR - New York Giants

Shepard has strung together two nice games in a row now with 14 catches for 176 yards and a score over that span. Those two games were against a Tampa Bay and Washington secondary who both rank near the bottom of the league. This week they play the Vikings where Shepard will most likely be matchup up with CB Xavier Rhodes who has proven he can be a shutdown corner any given week. Yes, Daniel Jones has been stellar to start the season, but the continued emergence of Evan Engram and the return of Golden Tate this week should hamper any benefit Shepard would have received from the change to Jones. Look for other options this week if at all possible.

Other Sits: T. McLaurin - Redskins, J. Brown - Bills, A. Brown - Titans
